How to Filter a List for Rows Containing Specific Text in MS Excel XP

  1. Select any cell in the list to be filtered.
  2. Go to Data menu, select the option Filter, and then click the option AutoFilter.
  3. Use the down arrow in the column that contains the list, and then click (Custom . . .) option.
  4. In the left box, select equals, does not equal, contains, or does not contain.
  5. In the right box, type the text criteria.
  6. Click the OK button.
