Receiving Error Message: Cannot Edit When Using MS Word XP

Note: This message appears when the source file or source program cannot be opened.

  1. Make sure the source program for the embedded object is installed in the computer. If the source program is not installed, it is sometimes possible to convert the object to a different file format that can be opened by a program that is installed.
  2. Ensure that there is enough memory to run the source program. Close other programs to free memory.
  3. If the object is a linked object, make sure that it is not opened by another user or that the source file has not been renamed or moved.
