How to Add Help Texts to Form Controls In MS Word XP

  1. Right-click the form control and then click Properties in the shortcut menu.
  2. Click Add Help Text.
  3. To display the help text on the status bar, select the Status Bar tab. To display the help text in a message when F1 is pressed, select the Help Key (F1) tab.
  4. To select an AutoText entry, click AutoText entry, and then select an item in the drop-down list.
  5. To create a custom help message, click Type your own, and then type the custom message on the box below.
  6. Click OK twice.
