How to Change Hardware Settings in MS Windows XP Professional

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu, click the Control Panel option, and then double-click the Phone and Modem Options.
  2. Choose the Modems tab and then click the modem to be configured.
  3. Select the Properties button and then select the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the Change Default Preferences option and then select the Advanced tab.
  5. Look for Hardware Settings and change the settings for Data bits, Parity, Stop bits, or Modulation options.
  6. Click the OK button three times.
