To Manually Put the Computer into Hibernation in Windows XP Professional:

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu, select the Control Panel option, and then double-click Power Options icon.
  2. Choose the Hibernate tab.
  3. Check the option Enable hibernation.
    4. Enable Hibernation
  4. Click the OK button.
  5. Then go to Windows Start menu, select the Shut Down icon.
    6. Activate Hibernation
  6. Select the option, What do you want the computer to do? to show list and then click the Hibernate option.
